Don't worry its simple, and easy to create presentations and the more you create the more you learn. I know that learning something new is the hardest part, but this was easy as 1, 2, and 3. I plan to use this in my classroom before the end of the school year with my 8th graders in some form or fashion. Get them exposed to the program and then start including ideas that connect with meeting educational standards. Take a look and give it a try. It doesn't bite.

Prezi: Something New in Powerpoints
Want to introduce something new to your students?? Try Prezi. Its a new and creative way to present information. To be honest, at first I wasn't buying it. I didn't want to have any parts of it. No reason other than it seemed too complicated for me. I avoided it like the plague and I put off many days completing my assignment for class. Basically, because I didn't want to learn something new. I was comfortable with powerpoint and that was enough for me. One day I gave it a chance. I created an account and I was welcomed with instructional videos that were brief and to the point. I then started to create my Prezi presentation. It's a new twist to the same ole boring powerpoint presentation. Trust me on this one.

ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said about Prezi being complicated, I thought the exact same thing when I first looked at it. I was comfortable with powerpoint something that I had been using for years and didn’t really want anything new at all. Especially something that was going to take up time and probably frustrate me beyond belief. But like you said after I created a log in and actually took the time to look at the introduction videos it wasn’t that bad. It is definitely something that takes time to learn but I think that once you actually get the hang of it, it’s a lot different than Powerpoint. Something you can use in place of it or even with it. My kids like I said in my own blog would love it! However, I don’t know if I could use it because it would take a few days for them to get the hang of it and maybe more. I commend you for having your 8th graders try it. Let me know how that goes and how quickly they got into it. I would really have to go through a step by step learning intro with my students and still then I would be nervous to see if they could grasp it. It took me a few trial and errors before I made the one that I did for class. Something great about these classes that we have been taking is that there is so much that we can take and use in our classrooms that I never knew about before. My students are really benefiting from me taking these classes and learning to use the new resources.
Cute Prezi! I really like this tool because it is somewhat simple once you get the hang of it and pretty much anyone can use it.
